SPIN partner VIDC-fairplay has been actively involved in the development of the ERASMUS+ sport project “INCLUsion through Physical Activity and Sport (INCLUPAS). The IncluPAS project aims to advance social inclusion amongst youngsters from urban disadvantaged communities through sport and physical activities and the use of an app.
After two years of working the city of will host a conference to present results and discuss future approaches of promoting social inclusion through sport in urban public spaces.
The international conference “A Youth Inspired Sport City” Promoting Sport and Social Inclusion’ will take place on 24 November. Speakers will include social innovation researcher Ann Decorte (Vital Cities), Anett Fodor from ENGSO, the former captain of the Afghanistan women’s national football team, Khalida Popal (Girl Power Organisation) and Kurt Wachter (VIDC-fairplay), coordinator of the Sport Inclusion (SPIN) network.
During the event the participating cities Thessaloniki, Vilnius and Ghent will share their key findings and research and discuss the potential that sport and digitalization have for achieving cities’ goals: fostering social inclusion and creating more active communities. The project partners will combine insights with the pilot cities’ stories, with the aim to inspire other cities and regions with similar ambitions to take action.
The conference will take place in Gent (Zebrastraat) on November 24th and will last for one day. It will comprise of presentations, panel discussions and workshops, as well as networking moments. Lunch, drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day. Travel expenses are not covered.
