Based on the multiplier training that took place from 11-15 May 2025, the group of 25 educators and sport teachers held trainings in their respective wilayas (camps) for more trainers and teachers to be able to deliver inclusive sport methods to the children and youth in Sahrawi refugee camps. Each training combined pedagogy, practical implementation and participant evaluation to guarantee the best possible outcomes.
Videos of the trainings are available on Instagram:
With the ever-helpful support from our partner at the Sahrawi the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ahmed Magai, these local trainings are a crucial step in scaling the delivery of methods and knowledge that foster inclusivity and sport.
Prior to conducting these training session, our partners at Unione Italiana Sport Per tutti, in particular Ilaria Nobili and Gianluca Pianigiani, put together a training manual (draft can be accessed here) based on the input they gave in May 2025 and incorporating the feedback by the trainers themselves. This draft manual contains theoretical input and a step-by-step guide of concrete methods to be applied in the camps. Once all the educators taking part in these last few sessions have shared their input and suggestions, we will publish a final version and circulate the manual among all the camps’ schools and sport clubs to be included in their activities and curriculum.
For the remaining duration of the project (May 2026), we will focus on designing a new format of sport events to promote inclusivity for all participants, regardless of gender, age, or physical and mental ability. The aim is to deliver an event that can be replicated annually and adapted to the specific requirements of the targeted audience and the organizers (climatic, surroundings, availability of material, etc.)
