First SPIN Board Constituted

It was a moment of celebration after 13 years of successful project cooperation for inclusion in and through sport. Following the registration of SPIN as a non-profit association (statutes are available here), headquarterd in Vienna, its members  joined to nominate the inaugural Board.

The election took place on Wednesday, 14th of June 2023, during an online meeting. It was followed by an exchange on next steps, including an outreach initiative for potential new members. Stay tuned for more info on this website!

Kurt Wachter – Chair

fairplay initiative for diversity and anti-discrimination at Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (Austria)

Kurt is head of fairplay with a focus on EU application coordination, sport & development, and social inclusion through sport. He founded the fairplay initiative at VIDC in 1997 and coordinated the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network from 1999 to 2009.

Victoria Schwenzer – Vice-Chair

Camino Werkstatt für Fortbildung, Praxisbegleitung und Forschung im sozialen Bereich gGmbH (Germany)

Victoria is research associate with a focus on right-wing extremism and anti-racism, sport and fan research, migration, as well as education and social participation. She has worked with SPIN on several EU projects as expert in research and evaluation.

Bella Bello Bitugu

University of Ghana, Sports Directorate

Bella is Director of Sports at the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana. Since 2021, he is a member of the Governing Board of the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement (ICM) under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Daniela Conti

Unione Italiana Sport per Tutti, UISP (Italy)

Daniela is head of UISP policies for interculturality and cooperation. Her main competence areas are sport for social inclusion of migrants/refugees and for prisoners, equal opportunities between women and men, organization of sport events with a focus on anti-racism, UISP training courses for managers and sport educators.

Joaquim Evangelista

Sindicato dos Jogadores Profissionais de Futebol, SJPF (Portugal)

Joaquim is currently President of the board of SJPF – Portuguese Football Players’ Union – and member of the National Sports Council (CND). At international level, he is a former member of the European board of FIFPro – World Players Union – and still one of the representatives of FIFPro in the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council.

Willie Westerhof

Huis voor Beweging (Netherlands)

Throughout her career, Willie has been working on sports participation of vulnerable target groups such as migrants, women, girls, and refugees. At Huis voor Beweging, she is currently national project leader of the buddy-project ‘World Girls’ and ‘World Boys’ on integration of refugee girls and boys in sports.

Jean-Marc Alingué

Liikkukaa Sports for All (Finland)

Jean-Marc’s focus is on cross-cultural advising and organizing of sports activities, conferences, and workshops towards social inclusion of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in leisure multicultural sport associations and also in Finnish mainstream sport clubs. He has been a member of SPIN and our projects since 2014.
